Kerouac Festival This Weekend
The 2018 Lowell Celebrates Kerouac Festival is happening now through Monday, October 8th in his hometown of Lowell.
As one of the city’s most famous residents and world- renowned author, Jack Kerouac started his own story on these very streets, where now many memorials can be found. In fact, a new reading room named after him is part of Lowell’s latest mixed-use development, Thorndike Exchange. But this festival is truly a special event that honors his memory and impact on the world with a variety of activities all weekend long.
Each day begins with a themed breakfast at Gormley’s Café, then you can attend poetry workshops, art exhibits, paint nights, readings and even jazz concerts. Plus, members of the Lowell Celebrates Kerouac Festival will be giving walking, bus and car caravan tours of Kerouac sites for a donation fee, depending on the tour.
